a small, shady cluster of massive old trees mingled with young and slender saplings. vines entangle the canopy and masses of brush and brambles litter the ground below. gnarled roots poke out of the soil. prime hunting grounds for birds and small rodents.

a brackish pool of water whose surface is covered by a blanket of algae and dirt. little silver fish dart back and forth beneath the mire, if you don't mind getting your paws dirty. not generally a place you want to drink from, however.

sparse yellow grass sprouts from the gritty soil on these hillocks, valiantly trying to live. rabbit warrens pock the landscape, which means good eating - but deer also like the highland, so watch your step. meager bushes and trees, many dead, dot the slopes and provide cover.

on the farthest edge of the new territory there is a belt of thin-trunked cedar trees. despite the small size of the wood, it is alive with tiny creatures. patrols are sent to the cedar copse twice daily, as the forest lies beyond, across a quiet thunderpath.

the charred corpse of a formerly grand ash tree stands in the middle of a plain of tall grass. this tree has become a place of refuge for a cat feeling overwhelmed by the new clan life, or two cats to fight privately, or to gossip unheard.

much, much cleaner than the scum pond, this is the clan's main source of water. water from rainshowers, storms, and melted snow has gathered in a rocky crevasse. the weathered stone that surrounds the basin is cracked and eroded.
